Plan for the places your dog can join you and the places it cannot.
Check the different areas
Dog arrangements vary between the wider Edge and the Rock Houses facilities. The National Trust’s dog guidance is the right starting point for current rules. Do not interpret access to the countryside as permission to enter every indoor space.
Build the day around everyone
If an interior visit is important, decide how the group will manage it while following the site’s restrictions. Avoid arriving with a plan that depends on leaving a dog unattended. A walk followed by an appropriate village stop may be a better fit for the day.
Read signs on the walk
Follow current lead requirements and keep a dog under close control around livestock, wildlife and other visitors. Seasonal instructions can apply to particular areas. Carry water and waste bags, and take waste to an appropriate bin rather than leaving bags beside the route.
Check the next stop too
Ask a café or pub about its own dog policy, including whether permitted seating is indoors or outdoors. A plan that works in dry weather may be less comfortable in rain. Keep a shorter alternative and choose your route using the walk guide before departure.
